Q: What is the Yellow Shield in My Task Bar?

Bookmark and Share

A: This icon indicates the Automatic Updates feature needs your attention.  If you hover over the icon you will see a message indicating what you need to do.  It may say it is downloading updates, or it may tell you a reboot is or was required to successfully install updates.  If it says updates have been downloaded and you need to install them, you can double-click the icon to proceed with that.

You can also see a video I did on how to install downloaded windows updates, and how to configure the Automatic Updates feature in Windows.
