Q: What is Windows Vista?
A: Microsoft's most recent attempt at an operating
system. It was the successor to Windows XP and was
released at the end of 2006.
Q: What are your thoughts on Vista?
A: It sucks. (Don't bother writing if you disagree,
because Windows 7 will be out in a few months and then we be
friends again.)
Q: Why do you think it sucks?
A: Lots of reasons. I'm not here to bash Microsoft
because I think Windows 98, Windows 2000, and Windows XP were
and are really cool. But they layed an egg with Windows
ME and now with Windows Vista. No big deal - Windows 7 is
right around the corner and it looks like it will be a
winner.
Q: But, I have Vista and I love it!
A: I am glad to hear it, and good for you. No hard
feelings if you like Vista. I tried to like it, I really
did. Frankly, I could write an entire article about the
frustrating experiences I had that led me to the decision to
not migrate to Vista. Lest you think I'm the only one,
check out some of the links below. A relatively small
percentage of corporations have embraced it, and currently
more corporations are investigating Windows
7 (which isn't even released yet) than Windows
Vista!
As I said, I don't want this to be a bash-Vista site at all.
The bottom line is, my clients are very happy on Windows XP,
and it does everything they need it to do. It is fast and
stable. There is just no compelling reason to
upgrade. My advice: stick with Windows XP for now.
Go to Windows 7 once it is released and proven (and all current
indicators are looking good.)

Q: I have Vista and
I hate it!
A: Yes, sorry. Too bad you didn't
find this site before you bought your new computer.
:-) Fortunately, there are options, such as
downgrading to XP.
