Q: Can I Read and Write Office 2007 Files with Office 2003 and Earlier?  Bookmark and Share

A: Yes, if you install the Office 2007 Compatibility Pack.  Normally if I have a client that buys Office 2007, I will go ahead and install the Compatibility Pack on all the other computers in their office so they can collaborate with everyone without worrying about file format issues.

To implement this, you will need to download the Compability Pack, and the Service Pack.  Install them in this order:

  1. The Office 2007 Compatibility Pack
  2. The Office 2007 Compatibility Pack Service Pack 1.
